I spotted them in a pile of flip-flops left behind by beachgoers before they hit the sand. They just stood out. A few days later, I found the same pair and bought them. No expectations. Just because they looked cool.

What I didn't expect was how incredibly comfortable they were. Or how long they'd last. Years later (six years and counting, to be exact) I still wear that same pair. They were just better than any plakkie I've had before, in all aspects. Or perhaps I should say, I always thought that "a plakkie is just a plakkie", until I found these. They were not the same...

Back in South Africa, people noticed them. Asked about them. Wanted their own. That's when I started looking into how to bring them in - not to start a company, but to share a product and experience that I was lucky enough to find.

Eventually, I brought in a few. They quickly sold out. Then Dirk (yes, another Dirk) came along. Initially, he only bought a few, but soon after he bought every pair that I had left. He saw what I saw in them and joined the journey.
